I still keep in touch with (former Gators and NFL linebacker) Brandon Siler. But since I've been in college, I haven't been able to really form a bond with any of the players the past few years. GM: My dad keeps in touch with all of his players.TNP: Does the family keep in touch with any other of your father's former players?.God has a plan for him and he's going to figure it out. I try to shoot him a text every once in a while. TNP: Do you get to catch up much with Tim Tebow.I love that he can come home and take a step away from the football field and be able to talk about things outside of it. How was your day? You tell me about your day." Because he wants to hear about what we have to say. GM: It seems like he just doesn't want to talk about it.TNP: You guys would be happy to talk football with him just because it's so big in his life?.But he doesn't really talk about football that much with me just because I guess his family is kind of his escape. GM: I expected him to freak out a little bit more.TNP: How did your dad handle the injury to Braxton Miller? Was it difficult for him?.Even Utah and Bowling Green we always keep up with them. We always watch them and keep up with them. People think we automatically don't care for them anymore, but we love them. But the past schools he's been to, we still always want to see them succeed, especially Florida. GM: I'm always a fan of where he's coaching obviously.TNP: Of the schools where he's coached, is the family left with divided loyalties at all?.I expect to see him there Sunday, maybe Friday. Sunday he should be there because they don't really do anything Sunday. GM: Fridays he's typically spending time with the team, but I do expect him to come to the games for a little bit, at least make an appearance.TNP: Will your dad be able to make the matches (Friday and Sunday Ohio State football is home on Saturday against Virginia Tech)?.But always excited to be put in this kind of challenge that will make us a lot better. Ohio State is going to be a little nerve-wracking just because. I'm always excited to play teams like this. You have the opportunity to do something really cool and kind of make a name for yourself. GM: I love being able to go play teams like this, because you're the underdog.Koehl Classic, with Southern Illinois and Auburn)? TNP: What's it going to be like Friday playing Ohio State (in the Ohio State D.C.I would recommend this college to just about anyone. I love the improvements that they've made in the time I've been here. TNP: How would you evaluate your three years at FGCU so far?.Every chance I get I tell the freshmen to cherish it and take in every moment you have on the court, off the court, with friends, any college experience you go through. But now that I'm here it makes so much sense. Gigi Meyer: Everyone says that all the time and I never really took it into consideration. The News-Press: Senior year it really flies by, doesn't it?.Gigi Meyer, the middle of three children of Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer, is in her senior year in Southwest Florida, on pace to graduate in the spring with a communications degree.Īnd like many other college seniors, she can't believe that chapter in life is nearing a close.Īs her team readies to face her father's school on Friday in Columbus, the Eagles starting setter talked with The News-Press about her love of FGCU, life after college, family allegiances and football, including her dad's unruffled reaction to the loss of star quarterback Braxton Miller for the season because of injury.
